About Akai
Akai was founded by Saburo Akai - Tokyo, Japan in 1929. In 1984, they started producing electronic instruments, acquiring the name of Akai Professional. The company produced MIDI Controllers (MPK, MPD series), synthesizers (MiniAK), drum machines (XR series) audio samplers (Akai MPC). Akai is now a subsidiary of Grande Holdings - Hong Kong.
